Colorado has some of the strictest energy regulations in the country. These tough regulations, coupled with an ever-increasing supply of clean-burning natural gas, make Colorado a leader in responsible oil and natural gas development:
- Carbon Dioxide Emissions: Natural gas unlocked by fracking helped cut U.S. carbon pollution to 20-year lows.
- Methane: To tackle the second most dangerous greenhouse gas—methane—Colorado passed first-in-nation regulations that will cut emissions by 60,000 tons per year.
- Sulfur Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxide: The growing use of clean-burning natural gas has cut U.S. annual sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide.
